Want genuine 21MP of resolution from your iPHONE 7 without upsizing? Here's how.
'Above are two images shot with my iPhone 7 Plus. The top image was taken using the standard camera app. and is 12MP - 34MB. The bottom image was also taken using the standard camera app. but is 21MP - 60MP. That image has not been upsized or interpolated and has come off the camera with no editing. So how is this possible?

What it's all about

What it's all about
'One of the reasons I get so frustrated with the photographic internet is the ridiculous and pointless bickering about gear. And my posts often demonstrate my increasing frustration with the male dominate gadget worship that forgets what photography is all about.

Smartphones and / or Mirrorless
'Going forward I can see photographers having a wide range of choice. We will still all go out with our DSLR's and Mirrorless 'marvels' but how many of us won't take our smartphone with us as well. Not many I suspect.'

Apple iPhone 7 and smartphone implications

Apple iPhone 7 and smartphone implications
'I guess sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich is becoming the norm for many photographic gear enthusiasts. Reading some comments in forums about the new iPhone 7's camera tech. and seeing many of the same attitudes that characterised the 35mm v Medium Format and Film v Digital debates only serves to remind me that the majority of the photographic internet is all about gear ownership and gratification and approval that comes by making the 'right' purchasing decisions. STOCK DIARIES - Where DSLR's can't go
'One of the reasons for my (often surprising to me) longevity in this is that I'm only too happy to go off and experiment. I actually don't think there are many occasions when I've taken out the same gear two days running. What this has allowed me to do is put together a very varied portfolio. Smartphones and Mirrorless Cameras
'Difficult as it may be to believe, there are people who take photographs who are more concerned with that than bragging about the gear they own and it remains to be seen which will become the dominant force in the marketplace. And this will always be hampered by the fact that the truly creative will as usual be outnumbered by the journeymen. '

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL - The best smartphone camera to date?
'And if I was a mirrorless camera manufacturer I would be worried. In fact I'd be VERY worried. Because this smartphone camera, at lower ISO's it has to be said, produces images that the likes of m4/3, Fuji X and Sony APS-C struggle to match. '

The Olympus Air AO1 - Refreshingly NON retro - Review and Opinion.
'Now I've got some posts on the Air via THIS LINK and it's a versatile little thing. For me made all the more attractive by it's pared down menu. Much easier and more fun to use than my OM-D II for example, I'm very impressed with it. I pair it with an Apple iPod touch, which is even smaller and lighter and the wi-fi network they create seems very reliable and robust (which makes a change!) It takes a few seconds to set up and once that's achieved the AF is positive and relatively quick. '

NEW STREET PHOTOGRAPHY - CAMERA POLARISATION

NEW STREET PHOTOGRAPHY - CAMERA POLARISATION
'Maybe they will just die out and we'll be left with souped up smartphones and the software to make their images look great and one end and monster pixelated, ultra high performance, ultra high price picture creating machines at the other. However, one thing is for certain, there are too many 'ordinary' cameras out there chasing an ever decreasing number of people who want to buy them and something, inevitably has to give.'
