Sony lenses announced

I thought these were announced ages ago, but apparently not.   ???

Apart from the 28mm, they are all big heavy and expensive. Just what mirrorless interchangeable is all about, right? Wrong. This is exactly what the problem is with the Sony FE lens range. They crow about their small 'FF' bodies and then release these monsters. The 35mm f/1.4 being the most ludicrous. It's ridiculously big. It's actually heavier than the Nikon DSLR fit equivalent.

I'd be really interested to see what the sales figures on this stuff is in a years time and the eventual reaction to these lenses. Ignore all the current cooing from the bought and paid for Sony stooges and wait and see what eventually emerges from those who don't have their noses Sony's pocket. Maybe they are great optically, but even if they were I've ruled out three of them because of the weight and size alone. I've tried big and heavy on my Sony FE's with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART and 50mm f/1.4 ART lenses and I've sold both of them because I just couldn't face carrying them around. Studio photographers might like them, but then they have probably bought the a-mount 'pro' lenses anyway.

I was considering trying some of these and reviewing them and I still might, but as long term additions to my Sony FE lens choice, all but the 28mm are non-starters. As you will be aware I'm building up my Nikon lens + adapter collection and that's very much the way I intend to go.

I have nothing but praise for Sony and their cameras. They produce what are probably the best mirrorless interchangeable cameras out, but these lenses. What are they thinking? This stuff is no alternative to DSLR systems, in fact some of these lenses plus a body actually weigh in heavier and more unwieldy than what I'm using as my Nikon Df combinations.

Sony talk a good lens, but often fail to deliver when we actually see what they do in the real world. Yes the 35mm f/2.8, 55mm f/1.8 and the 16-35mm f/4 zoom are excellent, but better than my Nikon 20mm, Voigtlander 58mm and even my Nikon 24-85mm zoom? Personally I doubt it and to be honest I'm not prepared at this time to spend the money to find out anyway. Come on Sigma, you're missing one hell of an opportunity here.
