'I'm bored, I'm the chairman of the bored!!'
Iggy Pop's immortal line might well apply to me. As you've probably guessed by now from the fact that I've finished off all my current articles and am posting them on the blog, the weather outdoors is unspeakable. We are stuck underneath a cold, cloudy, gloomy high pressure system which has meant that for the last four days I've pretty much been stuck indoors. At least it means I get lots of editing, uploading and blog post writing done!! But I do get get 'twitchy' when this happens and yesterday I cracked, went off into the cold grey murk (and slight drizzle) to try out my Leica T (Typ 701) and newly acquired Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH Lens and photograph the snowdrops in my local churchyard. This is something I try to do every year as I like the fact that it's the first signs that that dead earth is starting to create new life again.
So I went a bit over the top and snapped every clump of those hopeful little white flowers that I could before the icy wind and appalling light finally drove me back into the warm and the never ending task of editing pictures. Jeff the cat has also given up on the great outdoors as well and is curled up asleep on my lap as I type this. So Iggy, I know how you felt!!
Because of the terrible light I gave my snowdrop pictures the 'Snapseed treatment' and they do look somewhat different from the flat, drained colour of the originals, but it's no substitute for working with my new lens in good light. So I'll have to wait a while longer before partaking of that pleasure. I will say that the lens produced some very sharp images and it focuses pretty close as you can see. But I guess I'll have to be patient until the sun has got it's hat on again to see what that Super-Vario-Elmar is really capable of.
On the posting front, I have now finished all the articles I was working on and I'm off to buy some cheese from the local delicatessan. Maybe I can get a few shots? Desperate times!!
