I almost had a day off yesterday, almost! Ann and I went shopping and the weather was a bit dull. However wandering around the high street of a local town the sun came out. My Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone followed suit and I got some useful pictures,
Nothing special, but after a bit of Photoshop 'Instagramming' I uploaded them to a picture library.
Digression: The town is actually one I'm very familiar with. I went to school not far from here and the church in the picture is where we were frogmarched to at the start of every term. Also pictured is the pub where I indulged in a bit of underage drinking.
It's also not far from where I was born and back when I was a teenager before leaving to go and pretend to be interested in Sociology for three years, the place was somewhat quiet. The town wasn't even allowed to have a fish and chip shop. However, it has now been 'retail landscaped' and has been turned into some kind of 'shopolopolis' and my birthplace now holds the record for the most supermarkets per square mile in the UK. I think it's 7 on a 400 yard stretch of road. Still no fish and chip shop though. Every other junk food outlet known to man, but no fish and chips.
End of Digression: Now I've never been an adherent to the "always carry a camera' philosophy, but these days with my phones, that is actually what I do. The fact that the Nokia has this dual purpose, i.e. communication device and camera means that I'm always prepared if anything presents itself to be photographed.
I still always go out to create images rather than grab snapshots, but since it was there.......
Incidentally the shopping trip was to try a buy some trousers that had pockets so that I could carry the phones with me without having to have a bag, but I couldn't find what i wanted. However I did come back with one of these.
More on that in my next post.
