City Centre with Nikon 1

All images - Nikon 1 V1 + 10mm f/2.8, 18.5mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.8 (APS-C) lenses.

I live not far from the city centre of Birmingham, the second largest city in England. I have however not been there for a while. Partly because there are lots of stories of how jobsworths and rent-a-cop security staff give photographers a hard time. However I really did need to refresh my pictures of the place since they were getting a bit old. I decided to put my paranoia on hold and went up there with a Nikon V1 plus 10mm f/2.8, 18.5mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.8 APS-C lenses. As unobtrusive an outfit as I could muster. In the end, since it was bank holiday, almost every other person was snapping away with some kind of camera or phone, so I needn't have worried.

Birmingham has apparently more miles of canals than Venice and in recent years rather than let them fall into dereliction as was happening, canalside Birmingham has now become the place to go, and indeed the place to live. I had a wonderful sunny afternoon to take pictures and once again appreciated the speed and quality of the Nikon 1 system.

Since I didn't get arrested for being a terrorist, a paedophile or a criminal the day was doubly satisfying!!
