Sony 16-50mm in the 'real world'

I took the opportunity to try out the 16-50mm Sony zoom on my NEX-7, after the latest firmware update, on, unbelievably, another sunny day! The raw files are distortion free, but only with the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw. I have a computer with the previous version still on it and the vignetting and distortion is still there. Presumably there is something in the file that is telling the latest ACR to apply the lens profile automatically.

However it does work and it works well so I have no complaints. Interesting how a lens so flawed can end up being so useful.
