Ultimate Quality Test - Part 2 - Two Camera Comparison

Following on from Part 1 of these tests - http://soundimageplus.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/ultimate-quality-test-part-1-four.html this is a comparison between the Sigma DP2 Merrill and my Nikon D800E fitted with a 28-300mm VR zoom.

Full size file can be downloaded from Google Drive HERE.

So, a bit closer here, but the Sigma still shades it, even allowing for the fact that the Nikon file has been downsized. The Sigma file also has slightly more contrast.

So in terms of all the cameras, in terms of sharpness I would rate the cameras I tested in this order:-

1. Sigma DP2 Merrill
2. Nikon D800E
3. Nikon D600
4= Olympus OM-D and Sony NEX-7

What the implications of this might be for me (and as ever that it all I will write about, everyone else has to come to their conclusions as to what results similar to this mean to them) I will discuss in Part 3 of this series.
