Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AI-s Review and user experience - Part 3 - Sony NEX -7

Video shot with Sony NEX-7 Nikon 50mm f/1.2

Again this old-school 31 year old lens design proves it worth with a modern digital camera. This myth about modern lenses being designed for digital and therefore better is just that, a myth. If the lens is well-designed, well-made and well-engineered in the first place then it will produce superb results no matter what it is used on.

The stills are excellent, but where this lens turns in a stellar performance with the NEX-7 is for video. Do watch the video at the top of the page in full HD to see just how sharp it is.

Incidentally the NEX-7 performs much better for video when there is good light. I would also say just how easy it is to use a lens like this with the focus peaking. Its fast and its accurate and very easy to use. I was in fact somewhat surprised by quite how good the results were.

Today, I'm going to be trying it with m4/3 cameras.
