I do realise just how unlikely this sounds, but this strange and somewhat unwieldy combination has produced some of the best image quality that I've so far got out of the NEX-7. I have no idea why but the NEX-7 really likes this lens.

Using my Nikon > NEX adapter and by looking at the shutter speeds I've managed to find a find a position that corresponds to around the f/8 - f/11 mark on the aperture changing ring and the images produced are nice and sharp and artefact / CA / fringing free. As I indicated before, using the focus peaking mode is sometimes difficult, but in a situation when I have some time, not impossible.

Since I'm currently attempting to rationalise my cameras and lenses, this is very useful and gives me a nice zoom range. 36mm-127mm in 35mm terms. Its interesting that on my Nikon D800 / 800E the Nikon primes look sharper but on the NEX-7 this is reversed. The NEX-7 sensor does seem a bit of a strange beast, considering its reactions to certain m-mount lenses. However, whatever the reason, these results are very useful.
