Yesterday the rain stopped and I was able to get out in the sunshine to try the OM-D out. I decided to take the 12-50mm zoom with me. Unfortunately when I looked at the pictures on the screen upon my return, I wished I hadn't!

When I reviewed the lens before on my other m4/3 cameras, I came to the conclusion that it was a useful, if not particularly sharp lens. That conclusion has been reinforced by using it on the OM-D.  While the images I produced have nice colour and are certainly the "cleanest" I've ever achieved with m4/3, at 100% on my monitor they are not that sharp. Certainly not what I'm used to with lenses such as the 12mm f/2 and 45mm f/1.8.

It is undoubtedly a decent lens and very useful for video and of course bad weather, since its weather sealed, but I'm really not sure that I'm going to keep it. If you are thinking of getting one or the OM-D outfit with it included, I would recommend that you see if you can try it out first to find out if you will be happy with it.
