I've shot two more samples with the X-Pro 1 that I have upsized. This time to the same size as NEX-7, A77 and now D3200 files. My experience with cameras with sensors that don't have AA filters is that, with care, they can be upsized very successfully. While its true that most digital files will stand a certain amount of interpolation, the sharper files created on such cameras as the Leicas M8 & M9 and the Sigma Foveons, lend themselves to doing this on a slightly larger scale.

While the file I posted in this post - http://soundimageplus.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/fuji-x-pro-1-high-res-and-interpolated.html is stretching things a bit too far, the files in this post and here - http://soundimageplus.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/fuji-x-pro-1-comparison-with-sony-nex-7.html show clearly that upsizing the X-Pro 1 files from 16MP to a 24MP equivalent can be achieved quite easily. Provided of course that the original is sharp and exposed correctly.

The two files in this post were upsized using the resizing option in the Silkypix / Fuji software.

In addition to this the two files were shot on my two 35mm lenses. The top file on the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 Nokton and the one below on the 35mm f/1.4 native lens. I did do some tests between these two lenses and as I suspected its pretty much too close to call in terms of sharpness and overall performance. The Fuji lens has better bokeh at wide apertures, but then most of the Voigtlander lenses I've used don't have great bokeh anyway. The Voigtlander however does seem to have slightly better edge sharpness at wide apertures, though not by very much.

However as you will see the Voigtlander has a slightly warmer colour balance. The Fuji lens is VERY accurate in terms of colour reproduction.

Both images were shot at f/11 and ISO 200.
