Sometimes you get the reward.

A really hot day, a long struggle down a steep cliff path, followed by a long walk back to the car. Never was the sight of an ice-cream van more welcome!

Marloes Sands is one of the highlights of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in Wales. A wild rocky beach with no easy access other than a steep short cliff path or a longer but easier alternative.

However the effort is definitely worth it. The upturned jagged rocks provide a wonderful setting for the incoming tide. Even on a beautiful calm summers day the site of the waves crashing against the rocks is an inspirational experience.

Days like this make me realise what I do this for. A privilege to be there.
