As can be seen from the photographs the E-P2, with the viewfinder, is not substantially smaller than the 550D but is somewhat thinner. In the hand the two feel very different. The E-P2 is heavier than it looks and has a solid metal feel. Whereas the 550D is quite "chunky" and with a plastic feel, which is what its made of after all.

Handling is personal, and I much prefer the Olympus. I prefer the feel of leather and metal (really!!) to plastic, and I like the thinness of the E-P2. I personally don't like deep grips, which is why I've never particularly took to the G1/GH1/G2 range from Panasonic. I prefer a "flatter" body feel. Just to do with the way I grip cameras, and how comfortable they feel.

Its a very subjective thing.
