Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM zoom lens on 550D.

A lens I never thought I would never buy or use, as I never imagined I would be using a Canon DSLR with an APS-C sensor, at this point in time. I knew very little about it until a couple of days ago.

It is fortunately a really good lens. Light for a wide-angle zoom and very sharp. Its Canons APS-C 16-35mm.
Took it out yesterday and took some images to compare with some I had shot with a Panasonic 7-14mm lens on a GH1. The Panasonic was, up to now, my favourite super-wide. However I like the results from the Canon combination more. I loose 2mm of "width" but gain 50% more resolution with the camera.

Some shots were taken at ISO 800, and they are refreshingly "clean" and noise-free. Its a real bonus to able to switch to a higher setting in the knowledge that there will be only a marginal increase in noise. It handles flare very well also.

All in all, a very satisfactory outcome. It does however pose lots of questions about my current system.
