In the next fortnight I will be returning to a factory that I photographed last year for a further shoot - which will be mainly video. Its a company that specialises in making heavy equipment such as anchor chains for royal naval ships and chains for holding helicopters securely on aircraft carriers.
The factory has unique equipment and workers skilled in the processes to make these products.
Photographing the place and the people was a delight, though I have no desire to work there! The environment is hot, noisy and dangerous.
The images were photographed using a Nikon D3 fitted with 24-120mm & 70-200 F/2.8 zooms. The low light capabilities of the Nikon came into their own here as I needed to move fast & shoot everything hand held.
When I return with my partner we will be using Canon 5DM2 and Panasonic GH1 cmeras for the video.
