Fuji X Trans Sensor and Adobe Camera Raw - The real deal at last?
'

The latest version of Adobe Camera Raw, 9.1 has this from Adobe:-

'Reduced “color blur” artifacts when processing Fujifilm X-Trans raw images. In collaboration with Fujifilm, we are still investigating methods to improve fine detail rendering and overall edge definition.'

Now as Fuji X users we might be entitled to ask 'WHY HAS THIS TAKEN SO LONG!!!!!!!'

Cameras and technology - Help or Hindrance? - Wi-Fi, Apps and the Cloud.
'Camera manufacturers make a great deal these days about the tech. add-ons that their cameras come bundled with. They are very keen to let us know that the camera we are considering is wi-fi enabled and comes with an Android / Mac OIS app. that lets us control the camera remotely and download / upload / sync our pictures. Connectivity is all.

Lightroom 6, Lightroom Mobile and the Creative Cloud - Just a lot of hot air?

Lightroom 6, Lightroom Mobile and the Creative Cloud - Just a lot of hot air?
'I've been impressed by Lightroom 6 as I've written in a previous post and as part of the deal I get Lightroom Mobile to install on all my phones and tablets (well actually not my Windows phone Nokia, Adobe don't support that) so I can sync up all photos taken on those and automatically have them turn up in Lightroom. Sound useful?

Speeded up Sigma Photo Pro

Speeded up Sigma Photo Pro
'After getting my Sigma DP2 Quattro, I tried out the Sigma raw software - Sigma Photo Pro - and quickly came to two conclusions. Firstly it worked with almost mind numbing slowness, with adjustments and saving taking several minutes to complete and secondly I didn't see much benefit over the in-camera double size jpg. files I was creating. However, with the acquisition of my new PC tower with i7 turbo boosted quad cores and 16MB of Ram, I thought I'd try it again. And Sigma have seriously updated it.

Fuji X Roundup - Iridient Developer 3 official release - Classic Chrome - 16-55mm 'starburst' sun.
'OK I give in, I like Classic Chrome. I've had it set for all the images I've shot with the Fuji XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR Fujinon zoom lens and it's snuck up on me. As I've written several times before, it's not Classic and it's not Chrome, but I have warmed to it's cool colours. (See what I did there!!) '

HDR B/W PANORAMAS - Olympus OM-D E-M10 Nokia Lumia 1020 Smartphone
'These are experimental chiaroscuro HDR black and white multi-image stitched 'panoramas' shot with my Olympus OM-D E-M10 and Panasonic 15mm f/1.7 lens and Nokia Lumia 1020 Smartphone. The original images (usually three or four for each pano) were uploaded onto my iPad. I then stitched them together in Autostitch and edited them with Snapseed.'

Social Media style photography - A 'creative' cul-de-sac?

Social Media style photography - A 'creative' cul-de-sac?
'Because the whole idea of a social media inspired photography may well be fine for social media, but for general picture use and stock photography, it's pretty much out of line. Because where is it used? Do you see images like the filtered ones below on websites or in published material? Because I don't and I wonder who the libraries think will buy and use them. .

Sony A7r + 16-35mm + Iridient Developer. Medium-Format Quality?

Sony A7r + 16-35mm + Iridient Developer. Medium-Format Quality?
'In terms of my 'system' camera it's becoming clear that Sony FE has moved to the top of my list in terms of cameras I choose for my bread and butter work. The main reason for this being the quality of the files I can produce. And there really is nothing to beat the A7r, 16-35mm and Iridient Developer combination I am using at the moment.'

Iridient Developer 3.0 beta 4 - The 'real deal' for Fuji X

Iridient Developer 3.0 beta 4 - The 'real deal' for Fuji X
'And 'nanny' Fuji and 'nanny' Adobe can no more exercise their noise paranoia on the files from my Fuji cameras and my raw X files will appreciate being liberated from the processing straight jacket that those two companies have imposed on them. And if you have Fuji X cameras and lenses (and a Mac of course) then you can judge for yourself if want to free your files as well.'
